Modern Slavery

Modern slavery is real. It is happening in our communities. An unseen crime, it hides in take-aways, construction sites, farms and factories, hotels, car washes, nail bars and private homes.

Estimates vary on how many victims of Modern Slavery are currently in exploitation in the UK. In 2018 the Walk Free Foundation estimated that there are as many as 136,000 people living in Modern Slavery in this country.  There is no typical victim of slavery. Victims can be men, women and children of all ages and cut across the population, but it is normally more prevalent amongst the most vulnerable, minority or socially excluded groups.
